Last week I attended a two-day workshop, “The Joy of Stringer”, given by JC Herrell. JC specialises in incredibly fine straight-line stringer work. A stringer is what us lampworkers call a thin line of glass. Almost all of my beads use stringers in one form or another, but I have never been able to work with very fine stringers. The workshop was excellent: JC is an encouraging and patient teacher. I still don’t have fine stringers under real control yet, but as usual it’s a question of PPP (= practice, practice, practice). Most of the beads that I made during the workshop were cr*p, but here’s one that I’m quite pleased with.
